Slack is an excellent platform for project managers and individual teams. However, it might also be uniquely suited to helping software testers as well. Did you know Slack has an abundance of external groups who share similar interests? Accessing a public Slack channel can help Software Testers share best practices and collaborate in new and exciting ways to test better.
But first, let’s take a look at public Slack channels.
Public Slack Channels
Much like Facebook Groups, Slack has created space for like-minded individuals to come together and communicate/share insights/learn more. Public Slack communities are like forums where meaningful conversation can happen and act like open-source team workspaces for collaboration.
Anyone can join a Slack public community, and with special interests at the heart of these channels, it’s an excellent way for people in a variety of niche careers to get, give and share advice.

The Ministry of Testing
This great Slack community has 10,000+ software testing professionals that answer each other’s testing-related questions. Check out popular channels such as:
- Exploratory Testing
- Mobile Testing
- Continuous Integration
- Automation
- And more.
There’s also a Blog Channel – a valuable resource that’s constantly adding the latest blogs from the industry’s best sources.
Test Automation University
With a bit of a smaller community (8,000 or so) of testers at your disposal, this Slack group is specifically for free online software testing courses. It’s like a library of great speakers that include industry experts such as Angie Jones, Dave Haeffer, Jason Arbon, and more. Popular channels on offer include Performance testing and Java Programming.
TechWell Hub
Want a stellar resource for learning what’s happening in the industry? This 5,000+ member community has channels covering:
- Security
- Strategy
- DevOps
- AI
- Agile
- Leadership
They also offer a dedicated channel to Women Who Test.
